Bertha Vara

Bertha is a bilingual Accountant, graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso, with over 27 years of experience in a non-profit organization, with expertise in grant-based funding stream, grant fund cost allocation, contract management, account reconciliation, financial planning and required reporting and documentation in compliance with funder’s requirements. She has effectively managed an annual budget of approximately $5 million. Prior to Diocesan Migrant and Refugee Services, Bertha managed the accounting team at the Diocese of El Paso. She led the accounting team with enthusiasm and passion for the mission. With her humble and sincere direction, welcoming approach and open door policy, the office staff kept the day to day running smoothly.
